Electro galvanized bolts have a smoother surface and tighter coating control, making them suitable for indoor equipment, cable management, pipe supports and projects where appearance and easy thread engagement matter. Hot-dip galvanized bolts have a much thicker zinc coating and are generally preferred for outdoor, humid or more corrosive service. Because the thick coating changes thread dimensions, hot-dip galvanized bolt-and-nut assemblies require suitable thread allowance.

The best finish is determined by the actual environment rather than appearance alone. For coastal, chemical or continuously wet locations, the project engineer may specify hot-dip galvanizing, stainless steel or another protective system instead of standard electro zinc plating.

Quality Checks Before Packing
